Truth is a weapon

Scripture Reading: 1 John 4:1–3

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

The believer will encounter many spiritual experiences. As believers, we are open to the realms of the spirit. The Bible says, "He that is born of the flesh is flesh, and he that is born of the Spirit is spirit." Since we are born of the Holy Spirit, we are spiritual beings, and our Father is a Spirit. The Bible also declares that God is a Spirit, and those who worship Him must do so in spirit and in truth.

Therefore, we should not accept everything that is presented to us, as many kinds of spirits and spiritual encounters occur daily.

Learn from the written Word of God. One of the ways God equips us is by giving us His Word as a weapon to combat every thought, mindset, and voice that contradicts what the Bible says.

Complete Jewish Bible Psalm 91:4 he will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his truth is a shield and protection.

Truth is a shield. Truth serves as our defense against the lies of the enemy. The devil is a liar, and he may not always come in a physical form. Often, he attacks through our thoughts, our mindset, and our thinking patterns. Whenever the enemy tries to speak lies into your mind—telling you that you're a failure or bringing thoughts that contradict the work of Christ in your life—use the truth of God's Word as a weapon to cut them down. Defend yourself with the Bible. It is not only the strongest weapon of defense but also the most powerful weapon of attack. Use it!

Complete Jewish Bible Hebrews 4:12 See, the Word of God is alive! It is at work and is sharper than any double-edged sword — it cuts right through to where soul meets spirit and joints meet marrow, and it is quick to judge the inner reflections and attitudes of the heart.
